How to Use a Spy Button Camera
If Sherlock Holmes were alive, he would pop a spy button camera into a buttonhole on his Belstaff Milford coat and go about his day as a British snoop. You may be surprised how frequently people use the simple surveillance tool concealed as a shirt or jacket button or placed in an object to capture facts on tape. The hidden device has a built-in DVR that plays back whatever footage you record whether pictures or video images. Private investigators, mystery shoppers, and perhaps even an employer use these devices to get the skinny without anyone the wiser.
1 - Position the Camera on Clothing or Other Objects The device fits into the palm of your hand with the lens made to resemble a button. Slide it into a buttonhole or affix it to a hat or purse. Or a child's teddy bear, a plant, or wall outlet could serve as secret compartments to conceal the camera. You should keep in mind that stationary objects require the video recorder to run continuously since you are not wearing it to control other features.
2 - Turn on the Camera Prior to turning on the camera, slide the micro SD card, also referred to as a TF card, that stores data into the side of the surveillance device and make sure it snaps into place. Hold down the power button for a few seconds to place the camera in standby mode, which is indicated by a steady red light on one side of the camera. The camera also vibrates once letting you know the device is operational. Hold the power button down for three seconds to turn it off completely.
3 - Take Pictures You can take a single picture by pressing the record button once noticing that it vibrates and flashes one time for each picture you take. Still lifes such as these produce clear images whether using the camera close up or far away.
4 - Make Video Recordings Hold the record button down for approximately three seconds to start the video recorder. Most cameras vibrate twice indicating video recording has begun. You control when recording stops by pressing down the recording button for another three seconds causing the device to vibrate and flash three times. You should then press the record button once to return it to standby mode. When hiding the camera in objects to record, the recording feature stays on for hours at a time until you stop it. When the camera is on, some cameras function as a spy button audio recorder to record sound by pressing the power button once. Most cameras vibrate and flash six times to tell you it is working. Stop recording audio by pressing the power button once. 5 - View the Data Most models allow you to connect one end of the USB cable to the camera and the other end to the computer to upload images. You can also remove the SD card from the camera and place it into a slot on your PC or laptop. View the pictures and recordings, save the ones you want, and delete the rest. You can store images in a specific gallery to find easily, and choose an option that automatically puts the date and time on each picture. In most cases, you can edit and share images.
6 - Keep the Camera Charged A good rule of thumb is to charge the battery immediately after reviewing images. Keep the camera plugged into the computer and the battery should charge in about three hours. You could be even sneakier and plug the camera into a USB wall adapter when hiding the spy camera in an object such as a basket placed near a wall outlet to keep the battery charged.
